Over forty years researching the Royal Air Force
including the Battle of Britain
Geoff Simpson FRHistS has spent more than 40 years studying the history of the Royal Air Force and, in particular, the Battle of Britain in 1940. He was fortunate enough to meet and correspond with several hundred of the Few, the Allied airmen who took part in the Battle.
He has written a number of books and many articles, and lectures and broadcasts on the RAF in the Second World War. In 2022 he was elected a Fellow of the Royal Historical Society, mainly in recognition of his research into the Few.
An illustrated A–Z telling the story of RAF Coastal Command, nicknamed the “Cinderella Service” because it often lacked resources compared with other home commands. Covering gallantry, achievements, losses, Victoria Crosses and aircraft, this volume charts Coastal Command's vital role protecting Britain's seaborne supply lines.
“A very readable book that is engrossing but which can be dipped into as required … a valuable companion to any collection of WWII aviation books.”
